MARTY’S COOKIES IS BACK!
Just in
time for the holidays,
Marty’s
Cookies is back with all the original recipes.
The cookies that people
have loved since 1981 are now available for all sorts of
occasions – personal or corporate gifts, Shiva trays,
college-care gifts, etc. After a two year legal battle
to get the name and original recipes back, Stacy Fox
reopened the business this fall with new partner, Josh
Charlip, owner of The Bagel Factory in Southfield.
Marty’s currently offers
a delicious selection of flavors and promises more in
the near future, including: chocolate chip, chocolate
chip with walnuts and pecans, oatmeal raisin walnut,
oatmeal chocolate chip, peanut butter, butter pecan,
white chocolate dried cherry, chocolate chocolate chip,
and half-n-half. All cookies are made with the highest
quality ingredients and without preservatives and
trans-fats.
“Cookies & Brownies are
our specialty and our focus for now,” says Fox. “We
offer our full size 3.5 oz. cookie, boxes of 20 small
cookies and make-at-home cookie dough. We offer cookie
gift baskets, trays, gift boxes, client drop gifts
containing four small cookies in a cellophane bag tied
with ribbon with a the customers business card attached
to the bag for only $1.99ea. We can make custom gifts in
any price range.”
Marty’s Cookies was
started in 1981 by Marty Herman at 310 E. Maple in
downtown Birmingham. Fox bought the business in 1994 and
decided to add new flavors, low fat cookies, baskets,
trays and corporate gifts, as well as a cookie concierge
program. She began helping businesses with corporate
gifts by maintaining mailing lists, keeping their
stationary/business cards on hand so their cards can go
inside the gift, and creating custom gifts for each
particular business.
“I built up the business
to ¾ of a million dollars and decided to sell in 2004,”
says Fox. “Unfortunately, the new purchaser was not
running the business in a high integrity manner so I
sued to get Marty’s back. After a two year legal battle
I won and went on to reopen the business in the fall of
2007 with Josh Charlip, owner of The Bagel Factory since
1994. Josh is a big believer, and taster, of Marty’s and
persuaded me to partner up and reopen. We are now
creating the cookies from scratch in the same ovens,
same mixers and using the original recipes as we did at
the Birmingham Marty’s.”
